Being Unpaid To Become a Paid Game Tester

Lots of people are discovering that it’s possible to be a paid game tester. Video game companies make billions
upon billions of dollars every year and want to make sure that their products are the best they can be before they
hit the shelves. A small glitch can cause huge problems with the consumers and is something that the companies try
to avoid at all costs. So how do you become a paid game tester, you may ask?

Starting Out

The first step in becoming a paid game tester is generally to become an unpaid game tester. It sounds a bit crazy,
but in reality it makes perfect sense. Think about how getting a job works in the real world. It’s not possible to wake
up one morning, decide that you want to be a physical therapist and land a job as on the same day. Instead, you
have to go through school and then make contacts that will help you get the job you want.

Being a paid game tester is very much the same, but the only difference is that you can wake up one morning and
decide that you want to be a professional game tester. You can not, however, get into the business in just a day.
The best way to get into the business is to start making contacts. To do this, join a lot of gaming forums and start
talking to people. Eventually you will make contacts and will meet people online that are either true gaming testers
or who work for the video game company.

After you have made your connections, you need to start explaining that you’d like to earn your way into the testing
business. That’s right, earn your way. The best way to earn your way into the business is to start by testing video
games without earning a salary. Most of the time people choose to do this when they are working for another
company and earning a secure wage elsewhere, so that they don’t have to worry about paying for their rent or
mortgage. In your spare time, test video games for the companies for free.

There is a valid reason for testing video games for free. You have to prove to the video game companies that you
are trust worthy and that you are going to be good at what you’re doing. Video game companies have serious
problems with people leaking their information, and they need to make sure that their testers will not leak any
valuable information.

Starting to work for a video game company for free is not always something that everyone can do. Most people
need to earn an income and are unable to work for free. If you currently hold down a good job, however, you can
test video games in your spare time, for no compensation. Once you’ve proven your worth and trust to the video
game company, you can eventually become a paid game tester.
